Bavarian Line

Stein #3079, decor 514

The Bavarian line here are steins, which usually have a gray body ( outside and inside ). In order to distinguish them from other Mettlach steins or to explicitly identify them, the tower mark has been added the word " BAVARIA ".

These goods were first published in the Villeroy & Boch price catalog from 1906 .

The production period may have been around 1906-1910 .

These so-called " Bavarian steins" had a very simple body structure or decorations. The transfer printing lines were usually hand-colored. Often one finds only one mold number (no decor number).

Due to their simple structure and decor, these steins were relatively inexpensive and they fitted very well stylistically in the "Art Nouveau period" , which had its heyday in this phase.
